A remarkable love story between two people who are entrapped in their lives and famished by the magic of love more significant than the ordinary is found in Looking Glass Friends by E.L. Neve. The novel's beginning occurs when two strangers act compassionate toward one another, reviving hope in each of their lives. A regular lady Ellie goes into a bakery to buy cream puffs but quickly discovers they are sold out. The counter employee insisted that she take the package he had set aside for himself. In exchange, Ellie offers the guy a copy of her all-time favorite book, Atlas Shrugged. Love and light then began to fill both of their lives.

The novel opens with Neil's character portrayed as depressed, worn out, and on the edge of taking his own life. He vowed to take his own life when boredom and contempt remained the only emotions. Neil's wife, Fay, is a tired lady who laments the lifeless guy her husband has become. She clings to one aspect of their relationship—their sharing of bodies at night—in the vain hope that the guy she once knew is still there. Ellie is a thoughtful person with a sharp intellect. She feels she doesn't have anyone to speak to who can relate to her love of poetry, philosophy, and the idea of life. Jake, her affluent husband, spends most of his time working or engaging in his boring interests. Their son Johnny is a young child, the link between Ellie and Jake. Jake is very affluent, so Ellie can live a life of pleasure while still caring for her kid.

Ellie and Neil both want something more than the mundane. Both of them need intense, authentic, meaningful love. They start exchanging letters with each other that are loaded with wisdom, philosophy, poetry, and honesty. They confess to falling in love with one another's thoughts as the weeks pass. Jake and Fay are tired of their marriages and how often their partners' behavior changes. Over time, Neil confides in Ellie that he wants to leave his wife but is embarrassed by the suffering it would bring him and feels selfish for wanting to do so. Ellie also acknowledges wishing to leave her husband but must remain to protect her child. When disagreements develop and secrets are revealed, both marriages fall apart swiftly. The solution to both marriages is divorce, and soon Neil and Ellie are back together without feeling regret or shame.

I gave this book a score of 5 out of 5 stars. It was a great book that inspired people to find true love. The bond between Neil and Ellie represents enthralling, unwavering love built on tolerance and understanding. I recommend reading this book if you're seeking a deep, rewarding love story. The editing of this book was superb, and I seldom saw any mistakes. I will not suggest this book to young adults due to the profanity and light sexual themes it contains.

Neve undoubtedly has a gift for language, as seen by the way she conveys the emotions of the many characters throughout the novel. Readers will easily identify with each character's emotions and problems because of Neve's attention to detail in her writing. For instance, Jake's hatred is so palpably present in the novel that you can feel it through the pages. Neve's attention to the emotions of the other characters demonstrates how life changes may impact everyone in the area.

The profundity of this novel made it heartbreaking to read about Neil and Ellie's unadulterated love for one another. They did not have a physical relationship; their passion was solely conceptual. They stopped seeing each other in person when they began exchanging letters and spending endless hours on the phone. This passage in the book is crucial because it demonstrates that a relationship's physical aspects aren't necessarily essential. Neil and Ellie missed each other and yearned for their upcoming reunion since they had forgotten each other's appearance. You will weep through the whole book because of Neil's kind and compassionate attitude toward Ellie. Readers will leave this novel with hope for a passionate, all-consuming love.
