The Hundredth Time Around by Stacy Lee is a romance book set in scenic Maine. Cassidy is looking for happiness and escape. She had left her fiance at the altar, and most of her family had died in a tragic car crash. Cassidy decided to revisit a beach house in Maine to try and figure out her life. While there, she reminisces on the past and her summer fling with Sean; she is staying in his grandfather's old house. Sean learns that she is staying there and travels back home. Cassidy and Sean meet up, and old feelings and memories start to come back. They also uncover a chest of letters that bring to light family secrets that may explain the deal that Cassidy received in Sean's grandpa's will.

My favorite part of this book was how Cassidy's past and present were told in parallel. It was nice to get bits of her past with Sean alongside the present where she was reconnecting with him. I feel as though this helped to strengthen my connection to the characters. Seeing all the pain that Cassidy went through over the years was very impactful. She lost so much and struggled because of it. However, Cassidy kept fighting to find her happiness.

I also liked how the story was told from multiple perspectives. I especially liked the parts from Sean's perspective. He never was truly over Cassidy. He would go from woman to woman, but they weren't her. I enjoyed seeing his antics to be able to have a simple conversation with Cassidy. Anyone willing to fly from California to Maine, attend a high school reunion, and deal with the possibility that the woman of your dreams has a family, is truly in love. The perspective shifts also helped to set up the big plot twist towards the end of the book. Without these perspective changes, I doubt the twist would have been as impactful.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I only noticed a few minor errors throughout the book; I believe that it was professionally edited. I also can't think of anything noteworthy that I didn't like about this book.

Those who are looking for a short romance would enjoy this book. There is some strong language, but it is used sparingly, and there is no explicit sexual content. This is the perfect romance for a day at the beach!
