Review of Love All the Way
This book is about 20-year-old Melanie Foster and her life after she meets Allen Shandi. When she meets this man, she is awestruck and falls almost immediately in love with him. The only problem with her falling for him is he is gay, and she knows he will never love her like that. Despite this, he invites her to work with him in his fashion business and they become fast friends. After issues with his lover, Allen tells Mel that he has always wanted a child of his own, and she agrees to fulfill that wish for him. During her pregnancy, Allen meets a man named Felix and they fall for each other very quickly. This is conflicting for Mel because, while she is in love with Allen, she wants him to find someone to love with every bit of him. Eventually, she finds out that Allen is terminally ill and doesn’t have much time left in his life, so she and Felix and their other friends try their hardest to make his time the best it would be. As his condition worsens, Mel meets his brother and they fall for each other. After she has Allen’s and her baby, Allen is fearful that he might hurt the baby. After a while, his condition progressed to a point where he would not come back from, and he passed with his family by his side.
There are many positive notes on the this book. It warms your heart at some points, and breaks it at others. It is so easy to fall in love with the characters and to put yourself in their shoes. The plot development is amazing; it keeps you on the edge of your seat with hope and suspense, but also relaxes you with the outcomes that you almost knew would happen. This was shown in the development of Allen and Mel’s relationship, as well as the progression of Allen’s condition.
There were also some, but few, negative aspects of this book. At some points there were typos in some of the words, as well as punctuation and grammatical errors. At others, it was hard to follow some names and remember when they were introduced because they were shown once and not brought up until later (like the homeless man from the beginning), or mentioned once and forgotten about.
I rate this book five out of five stars. I loved getting to know the characters and feel what they felt. After finishing the book, I would give anything to read it again for the first time. I miss the feelings I felt at any given point in the book. I would love to get a physical copy of this book to read over and over again. I highly recommend this book!
This book is for young adults and older due to some of its content. There are some sexual scenes, innuendos, and explicit language. There are also a few instances in regards to polygamy and the book is about a someone who is homosexual. This book is for anyone who is okay with these concepts in literature.
