Depravity: A Beauty and the Beast Novel

Post by RedMeg6 »

I should first say that I'm a big Beauty and the Beast fan so when I got this book I expected to like it no matter what. What I did not expect was getting this book then immediately downloading the second one (around nine p.m. telling myself the same old lie of just one more chapter) and after I devoured that one (around twelve a.m.) I looked up the last one only to find it wasn't out yet! (This led to one of the worst book hangovers I've had in recent memory.) This little trilogy far exceeded my original expectations.
The story of course follows Benella (Beauty) at the tender age of sixteen but that's about the only tender thing going for her throughout most of the series. She lives in a tough world where the poor starve, trade or barter with whatever they have. Sometimes if they want to or not. Luckily our heroine is very savey, smart and to my complete joy a tom boy! Her spirit never breaks even when she finds herself in some very bad situations and is faced with some hard truths about how evil and selfish people can be. This series is really pretty dark at times. Fortunately some of those bad times brings her to the outskirts of the famous Estate that is guarded by the completely mysterious but absolutely deadly Beast.
I thought I would read this book to see another cute retelling of Beauty and the Beast, what I got was a story that at times seemed like it was going into erotica territory then it would pull back into sweet times then jump into some seriously funny situations then come back around to good old fashioned romance. I can honestly say I was completely confused about what genre (besides general romance obviously) I was reading. I can't suggest this trilogy to fellow fairy tale romance fans enough.
Awesome side not the first book in this series is currently free on Amazon! And the trilogy is now complete. :)

I am so happy to see that at least one other person has read this book! I have not been able to put it down since I started reading it. A Beauty and the Beast has always been my favorite Disney story for many reasons. This is why I started to read this book because it is supposed to be a retelling of that fairy tale. I can promise you that it will not disappoint!! I can relate to what the above post said about not knowing what genre to consider this book. Anyways, I highly recommend picking up this story!

Thanks for the review. When does the last book of the trilogy come out? I hate to start the first and then have to wait months and months to finish the story. I find I end up loosing some of the interest for it. I want to read them all in a row.

Whohoo! Glad to see another fan Mexahontas! I have been trying to get everyone (that I thought might be even remotely interested) to read this trilogy.

And ashley4886 all three books are out now and the first one is still currently free in kindle format. I hope you get to check it out!

Once I started, I could not stop!! Lol! :D I usually don't read romance novels but I felt as though this had just enough to keep you interested. Question: What did you think about Rose's warning about two down, two to go? Was she referring Benella's sisters or someone else, or did she just kind of left that hanging?

I don't normally read romance novels with a fairy tale twist, but I took a chance on the first book and ended up reading the entire series in three days - I lived it! I liked that it did not follow the popular Beauty and the Beast story, her having siblings and friends in the village. I am defiantly a fan of this trilogy and recommend it to Romance readers wanting a change.
