Review of The Hundredth Time Around
The Hundredth Time Around: A Novel by Stacy Lee is a romantic story set on the Eastern coast. It is Book 1 in The Nubble Light series. It starts in 2001 with Cassidy Quinn walking down the beach when she is tapped on the shoulder by a handsome man. She goes home to tell her girlfriend, Emma, about this encounter and can’t help thinking about this guy.
Emma and Cassidy hunt for sea glass on the beach on Fridays. It’s their little “Beer and Sea Glass” ritual, and this time they run into the same guy, who introduces himself as Sean Anderson and this grandpa. Sparks fly between Sean and Cassidy, and soon they start dating. When they begin dating, Cassidy tells Sean that she was in a car accident a few years back, and because of this accident, she lost her parents and her grandma. After about a year, Sean and Cassidy break up, and both go on to bigger and better things. Or do they?
I absolutely loved this novel. I am a sucker for romance novels, so I fell head-first into this book. Furthermore, I couldn’t put it down and finished reading it in one sitting. You will love this novel if you believe in soulmates and people being meant to be together. Occasionally you know the scenario is far-fetched and unlikely, but you don’t care. You want to believe that everything is accurate, and you can believe that everything is fine with the world. That’s what this novel does. It takes you away to a place where you can believe in romance, and the people involved in it and everything is wonderful!
I found that the author’s writing style flowed and was graspable. You understood everything in the book, even though the story had a back-and-forth. It was written in the present day and took you back to World War II, but you could keep things straight and not get confused. It was a short novel, only 190 pages.
There was nothing I disliked about the book. I found the novel to be extremely well-edited. I did not see any grammar or spelling errors. There was a mention of sex here and there, but it was not descriptive. There were a few dabbles of foul language, but nothing noteworthy. Therefore, I gave The Hundredth Time Around: A Novel 5 out of 5 stars. If you like short romance novels, then you will love this book. I think this book is suitable for young adults and adults.
