Review of The Bond
The Bond by Sanna Brand is a delightful historical romance novel that will leave readers swooning. Set in the Regency era, the story follows the romantic journey of Rose, an Earl's daughter, and Rhys, the new Marquess of Ravenscroft. The two meet as children when Rose brings her pregnant dog to Rhys's stable, and a friendship blossoms between them. However, as they grow older, their feelings for each other deepen, but they face numerous obstacles that threaten to keep them apart.
Rhys had to leave for war, and Rose's father, the Earl, had other plans for her. When Rhys returned, now the Marquess of Ravenscroft, he found that Rose had two suitors: the Brigadier Viscount Pennworth, who was deceitful, and the Reverend Abernathy, who was boring. Rose was still in love with Rhys, but a family secret was keeping her from wanting to marry anyone.
The author did an excellent job of creating relatable characters that the reader could empathize with. The chemistry between Rose and Rhys is palpable, and the tension keeps the reader invested in their story. The supporting characters are also well written and add depth to the story.
One of the things that I appreciated about the book is that the pacing is just right. The story moves along at a steady pace, and the plot twists are timed perfectly. The author does a great job of keeping the reader guessing about what will happen next.
However, the book's biggest weakness is its lack of professional editing. There are numerous errors in grammar and spelling, which can be distracting and take away from the reading experience. Despite this, the quality of the story is so strong that it is still a highly enjoyable read.
Overall, The Bond is an entertaining and engaging historical romance novel that is perfect for fans of the genre. Its relatable characters, sweet romance, and well-crafted plot make it a book that is hard to put down. Despite its editing issues, I would highly recommend this book and give it 4 out of 5 stars. It is a delightful read that will leave readers with a warm heart and a smile on their face.
