Samuel is finally meeting the woman of his dreams. After four years of online dating, she is finally here, right in front of him, as beautiful as he imagined. Except for one thing: Alexia claims to be a vampire. A living, breathing vampire. To top it all off, she claims to be the former Queen of the vampires. Despite his disbelief, Sam’s heart tells him to listen to what Alexia has to say. As she shares her journals with him and they both take the journey back to the beginning of her story of becoming a vampire, Samuel finds himself loving this creature more and more. Sam knows he has found someone he could love for the rest of his life, someone he would die to protect – which might happen sooner than he could imagine. The past doesn't always stay in the past, especially when you have been around as long as Alexia
Cognata: A Vampire Romance, is an amazing book written by Jedaiah Ramnarine. Ramnarine takes an original and exciting approach to vampires. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book; it was refreshing to see such an original idea executed perfectly. My favorite thing about Cognata is that the reader gets to see in both Samuel and Alexia’s perspective. It's not very often one gets to "hear" the inner thoughts of the male in a romance novel, making it a nice experience. When told from Samuel’s perspective, I genuinely felt I was reading from a male perspective. When told from Alexia’s perspective, I felt there was an old-fashioned sense to her, as though she was from a different era.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance and vampires. But there is also action, humor, and a little mystery, as well. This was a book that I could not put down. I read the entire work in one sitting; it kept me captivated until the last word. If you are looking for an original, one-of-a-kind vampire love story, read this book! The only complaint I could think to come up with is that, this being a Kindle edition book, it was short.
The book seemed to be free of grammatical errors and typos. The plot was strong from beginning to end. Your main and supporting characters are clearly defined and well rounded. The book also isn't very explicit, which I felt was a nice change from newer vampire novels.
I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. I am giving this rating because I enjoyed reading Cognata: A Vampire Romance. It was well written, new, exciting; it had romance but also action, and mystery. I also liked that the human character (Samuel) wasn't portrayed as weak and helpless. I highly recommend this book.
