I just finished reading the book, "Love on the Rocks" by Author Kay Harris which is a fictional romance but definitely makes you wish it was your own real life romance! It dives deep into the world of a girl who feels her life is simple until she meets two hot rocker men who change her life for good.
The story follows a girl named Dani aka "Baby" who feels like a Plain Jane park ranger who travels from job to job and lives her life accordingly. That is until two of the hottest rockers, Hank and Sean, happen to storm into her life one lonely night. When they offer her a ride, she accepts and it turns into the opportunity of a lifetime. Dani is thrown into a whirlwind of traveling, crazy groupies and suggestive comments from both of the sexy rock stars. She is constantly battling the two men in a fun verbal way until she begins to fall for one of them. She loves both men in their own way, but she only has eyes for one. Dani and the man she chooses make an attempt at love, however multiple road blocks are thrown into the path of the budding romance including: self doubt and crazy moms. There are twists and turns guiding the romance, much like the roads guiding the tour bus, but can they hang on for the ride or is the tour destined to end?
This book was completely entertaining and kept me hanging on every word. The characters were witty and constantly jabbing each other to give the reader a laugh. There was also plenty of drama and twists to pull on your heartstrings. The story line was complex and detailed but easy to keep up with because each detail kept on track perfectly with the main plot. Each little detail provided a map to where the story was going.
The book raises the main question of: Could someone living an accelerated life commit to someone who preferred simplicity? But it also questions if the the person living the simple life could handle the rocker lifestyle. There are opposing sides for each argument but in the end, we can all hope that love wins out.
I believe that the author did a fantastic job of keeping the writing entertaining and energetic. She went so far into detail that sometimes I felt that I was in the book and feeling some of the emotions that the characters themselves were feeling. It was clear to follow and easy to determine what the purpose of the book was whether you connected with the characters on an emotional level, or simply wanted to feel good for them and their journey.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as it was very well written, witty, entertaining and I didn't put it down until I was finished! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for quick love story that takes place in the rock world and anyone who loves witty satire. Very much looking forward to the next book!
