Catriona Cameron's world is turned upside down after she gets a visit from a strange huge man because of her recipe. Laochailan McKell has travelled halfway across the world to Melbourne to try to save his people. His last hope is in the secret Catriona holds. For generations, this secret recipe had remained in his family and was only taught to the daughters of Simone, the matriarch who had created the recipe. The McKell Enterprise that thrived off their unique whisky and this recipe faced doom as the last Simone who could make the secret recipe had just died. How could Catriona's recipe be exactly like Simone's? And would she take up Laochailan's offer to go to Scotland? In The Salignac Legacy by Caenys Kerr, you will have the answers and more!

There were so many positive and enjoyable aspects to this book. Catriona is a strong-willed, smart, and beautiful lady with self-pride. Her strength and independence stemmed from her facing life's struggles all alone. Meanwhile, Laochailan is an assertive man with a great sense of responsibility. He provides for and takes care of the family business. He is accorded respect, if not for anything but for his build. What better combination than this duo to create some fiery tales that keep you glued? I thoroughly enjoyed the sparks and the occasional clash of their strong personalities.

My favorite thing about this book is how the plot thickens and swivels each time I think I have had enough surprises. Much anticipation is built on how Catriona got to have the secret recipe. Was it stolen, or did someone let out the secret? The author adds to this when she suggests that there might be something more than the secret recipe between the two main characters. How would the power dynamics play out? While readers try to wrap their heads around this, there is some legal drama woven into the plot. The drama does not end there. Catriona would go ahead to discover the true identity of her father and why he made the choices he did. Caenys did not give the readers a breather; it was a back-to-back serving of drama, thrill, and suspense!

There is also a strong emphasis on the protection of family traditions and legacy. There is a collective effort by McKell to preserve their legacy and ensure future generations have something to hold on to. The Camerons are also not left out in ensuring the continuation of their family heritage. Despite the consistent effort to uphold the old, when Catriona saw the need for improvements and innovations, she embraced them. The book was professionally edited, as there are few punctuation errors.

There is nothing negative I have to say about this book. It deserves 5 out of 5 stars because it was entertaining and well-written. There was a slow buildup to the story, and I saw excellent character development. Nothing felt rushed, and the author tied it all together beautifully in the end. This book is the first in a series of books by the author, with the central theme being family traditions and legacies. With how well the author was able to weave the intricacies of the book around this theme, I can't help but be excited to see what she comes up with next. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance stories and novels centered on family secrets and legacies.

The reviewer appreciates the way the plot continually thickens and surprises, keeping readers engaged and eager to uncover the secrets surrounding Catriona's recipe. The anticipation of how she acquired the secret recipe and the potential romantic tension between the main characters is well-executed. Legal drama, family dynamics, and revelations about Catriona's father further contribute to the story's drama, thrill, and suspense.
