•E.L. Neve did an outstanding job with this book! From the moment I started reading it, I was fully engaged. How she used such strong sensory language to describe each character, the reader cannot help but ‘know’ each one intimately. Neve maintains this high level of description with every setting, every feeling, and every mood throughout the book. I felt her knowledge of word stock was beyond phenomenal! Not to mention how her obvious love for poetry gave her the ability to use famous poems to convey, validate, and express the exact sentiment of those poetry inclusions, which made this book even more intriguing to me. There was not a moment in the duration of my read that I didn't feel something. I was engaged so deeply that I became a cheerleader for certain characters while getting emotionally charged by other characters. There were subplots that I could personally relate to in such a soulful way. Each character came to life with each word as if to create a miniature world that I could walk right into and interact personally with each of them. She made me know them down to their most secret wants and desires. I became friends with them, I empathized with their downsides, and I was angered by their behavior or lack thereof. I was not reading this story, I was walking as a bystander with the proverbial narrator as the story unfolded. Further, into the story, an embedded story specific to one of the male characters did leave me disappointed in the description of the exhibited behavior as it felt a bit childish. It read in a way that immediately made me picture a female’s reaction to the emotional experience he was having. It felt almost the opposite of the character I had been originally introduced to. However, it was not enough for me to drop my 5-star rating of this magnificent book! The entire point of the book was about how love can be something that can be developed in the oddest of ways. The innuendos and nuances of any sexual attraction/relationship had such a great impact on me as I read through the 3 parts that were present. I remember thinking to myself as I read, this author just wrote about a sexual encounter without having to add any context that was sleazy or inappropriate, WOW! Even during the times that the passion rose to a heightened physical nature, it was clean, intuitively described, and entirely appropriate to the storyline while being respectful of their possible offense had she gone with a different approach. E.L. Neve made every effort to keep her story as real and as believable as possible yet made sure to also weave fantasy into it! If you love crawling into the books you read and getting lost in the story, then you’ll find this book as enchanting as I did, resulting in not wanting to put it down! I highly recommend to anyone reading this review to get it!!
