Love and a Governess by Aleisha Dinisi features the character of Elizabeth. She is a headstrong young woman who has managed to scare off all possible suitors until this point. However, her brother's friend, John Beckett, has arranged for her hand in marriage. He is also looking for a governess for his daughter, who has a reputation for being a bit wild. Elizabeth decides to go undercover as a governess to learn more about the man she is to marry. She begins to develop feelings for him and is about to reveal her truth when an imposter claiming to be her shows up. Will Elizabeth be able to reclaim her name, or will the imposter marry John instead?

The character of Elizabeth had a compelling character arc and was such a joy to read about. I enjoyed seeing how she would teach John's daughter how to fight and throw rocks as an incentive for her to learn other things, such as reading and math. It showed how creative she was and how she could relate to the child. I also liked how she slowly began to develop feelings for John and that the romance did not feel rushed.

I will say that the ending did seem to come about a bit quickly. The pacing picked up about two-thirds of the way through the book. I would have liked to see that part of the narrative expanded upon. However, this was not a major issue.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and my only dislike is minor enough that I see no reason to take off a star. The book also only contained a few errors; I believe that it was professionally edited. This book is best suited for adults who do not mind explicit sexual content. As it spans both romance and historical fiction, it would be enjoyed by fans of either of those genres. It is fast-paced, and I found myself reading it in one sitting; I highly recommend this one!

The single dad trope is such a good one! Moreover, Elizabeth sounds like an interesting character. I also like it when the romance is not rushed. I'm convinced this would be a great read for me! Thank you for this excellent review! I can't wait to see what happens in this book.
