Review of Brigette Du Vaux
Lynn was a senior at Kent State and went to a bar with Lisa and some other friends. The girls were drunk that evening and went to the boys’ dorm. A few days later, a video of the girls performing sex acts on five guys circulated on campus. Lynn’s face was easy to see in the video. Lynn decides to make erotic videos to pay for her education. During spring break, Lynn convinces Lisa to join her in making personal porno videos for men. Liza Bonnett and Brigette De Vaux made over fifty thousand dollars over fourteen days while staying in Panama City.
Lynn is now a professional accountant for a corporation. She learns she lost a promotion to a new employee, and Lynn is devastated. That evening, Lynn gets drunk, googles Brigette De Vaux, and finds a site with twenty-one videos of her in Panama City. She contacts Jerry, the website’s creator, and asks him to post a live-streaming video. Her first video brought in over sixty thousand dollars after Jerry took twenty-five percent. Brigette and Jerry plan to make more videos in Panama City. However, Lynn has caught the attention of Vince. Vince dominates her thoughts, and she wonders if she can have a real relationship despite being an internet porn star.
Bea Ann Argh's Brigette De Vaux is an entertaining story that is unpredictable. The character development of Lynn and her alter ego, Brigette, was beyond intriguing. An accountant by day and a porn star by night, Lynn explores the fantasies of her fans. Vince’s attraction to Lynn is genuine because he knows nothing about Brigette. The details of the explicit scenes are vivid, but a substantial plot dominates the story. Romance, friendship, betrayal, and revenge are just a few topics in the book.
A few changes in Brigette De Vaux could improve the story. Why did Jerry use a website for Brigette without speaking to her first? I questioned why Brigette put up with the toxic corporation when she had a way to support herself that she enjoyed. Adding more detail in these areas would make Lynn more realistic.
I rate Brigette De Vaux three out of five stars. I deducted a star for the editing. Another round of editing would be beneficial to eliminate the typographical errors. The second star removed was for the inability to connect with the main character. However, the plot twists kept me from being able to predict the ending. The suspense builds well in many areas. I was able to immerse myself in the drama of Lynn’s life.
I recommend Brigette De Vaux to adult readers who like original romance novels with erotic scenes. The explicit scenes and vulgar language could be offensive to some readers. For obvious reasons, this is not a book for younger readers. Can Vince and Lynn form a solid relationship? How could Brigette’s identity cause Lynn problems?
