How would you feel if you were given out to the orphanage by the people who were expected to love you the most?
Guilty of Stealing His Heart by Nancy Lynn White presents a poignant narrative of a young girl named Carrie, who, despite having her parents alive, finds herself abandoned in an orphanage. The story delves into the emotions of hurt, hatred, pain, neglect, inferiority, bitterness, and anger experienced by the five-year-old protagonist, highlighting her struggles and resilience amidst adversity. She was placed in the care of Ruth who speaks German and they became friends.

The narrative unfolds with the introduction of Phillip Wagner, Carrie's husband, whose arrest and subsequent sentencing to death lead to a profound sense of abandonment. Carrie and Ruth made plans to leave alongside their adoptees. On her quest to leave, she met Billy, a young boy, who claimed to have no family. Out of compassion, Carrie took him in and cared for him.

When she thought she got things under control, JT Grant, a Pinkerton agent, who believes she is an accomplice and wants justice for his dear friend, appears. This further complicates the storyline, offering a captivating exploration of emotions and relationships.
What happens to Billy after Carrie finds out he has an aunt?

My favourite character is Carrie, her love and resilience amidst hardships are compelling, offering valuable insights into the human experience. The portrayal of Ruth as a selfless, kind, and loving friend to Carrie is particularly noteworthy, showcasing the themes of strength, patience, love, and care that transcend the absence of familial support.

The book is skillfully written and meticulously edited, effectively capturing the reader's attention from start to finish. I do not dislike anything about the book. This book receives a resounding five out of five stars, making it a compelling read for young audiences interested in Christian literature.
