Curve Couture by H.M. Irwing is a romantic drama novel. The book is set in Melbourne, Australia and it follows the life of Claire Williams, a modeling agent. Claire has only one client, her sister Janice. The story is told from Claire's perspective.
When Claire Williams tries to sell off her only client (her sister Janice) to Erin Robertson, she is disappointed to hear that he has no interest in signing Janice as a client. Erin, a retired supermodel himself, has other plans in mind. He wants to sign Claire on as a plus-sized model. Claire accepts the offer since she had been looking for a change in her usual duties. The new path Claire is set on has its own challenges though. Claire has to go on a fitness regiment to prepare for her runway appearance. When the chemistry she has with Erin blossoms to something more, Claire has to struggle with her new career path and her feelings for her boss. When Erin receives an offer to return to modeling, he finds that he has to accept the offer even though it might complicate his budding relationship with Claire. Will Claire succeed in this new industry? Will Claire and Erin manage a relationship while working together? Will Claire escape her contract with Janice? All these questions will be answered in this amazing book.
The main theme I encountered in this book was love. Claire starts the book having fallen for Erin since she was a teenager. Her feelings for not only Erin, but for Janice also, have contributed to the problems she faces. Erin on the other hand is alien to such a feeling and when he discovers that he loves Claire, it becomes one of the biggest revelations in his life. The other themes I encountered in this book are; abuse, betrayal, fear and courage. The author uses these themes masterfully to not only make the characters interesting, but to also make the plot memorable.
The character development in this book was written masterfully. Claire starts off as being meek, doubtful of herself and pliable to whatever Janice wants. As the story progresses, we see her become confident, sure of herself and desperately strive to cut ties with her sister. Erin as a character was amazing. To write him unsure of himself and his feelings at the beginning, only to help him grow from his relationship with Claire, was amazing. I loved how Claire describes him from start. The masterfully plot and the incredible characters made me compare this book to Hello, My Love by Evy Journey.
I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This is because I found the plot addictive and the characters were amazingly developed. I could also not find a single spelling mistake as I was reading. This made me read the book without taking any break and I found that I finished the book in one day. The only thing that I did not like about this book was how short it was. I loved the story, but I think the story deserved a longer book.
I would recommend this book to all adult romantic drama fans. The writing was uniquely descriptive and there were numerous sultry romantic scenes that the reader should prepare for. The writing was amazing and I look forward to reading more of H.M. Irwing’s books.
