Curve Couture reads like a modern day fairy tale. It is a happily ever after kind of story. The book is aptly described as a steamy fun-filled passionate romance. Claire Williams the main character is a beautiful, twenty four year old plus sized virgin living in her sister's shadow. She loses her virginity under circumstances best described as an accident. ‘The accident’ involved her younger, supermodel sister's fiancé. The ensuing guilt leads Claire to approach the enemy and competition in a bid to have him take over the management of her sister's modeling career.
Enter Erin Robertson, former model turned agent. He is according to Claire, the hottest man on the planet. Ironically Erin, the so called 'enemy' has been the object of Claire's fantasies for the longest time. It turns out that he too is interested in her. Rather than represent Janice, Claire's sister, he offers to sign her on as a plus sized model. Thus begins Claire's journey as a plus sized model and Erin's entry into her life.
Curve Couture is a story of appreciation. Erin sees beyond the 'fat and obese’ tag that most people including Claire use to describe her. He is able to get her to grow confident and love her curves more. Through Claire's experience in a world that describes beautiful as skinny, slim or waifish, the author shows that curvy girls are also sexy and beautiful. Claire faces her challenges in the fashion industry head on and makes the most of the opportunities she is presented with. Unlike most models who are selfish and only thrive in cut throat competition, she looks out for others. She demonstrates this virtue by saving a model in a rather dramatic way during a fashion show.
I really enjoyed Irwing's style of writing, so easy and relatable. The descriptions in the book are clear and give vivid images of what to expect. I found the flashbacks seamless and they served to clarify the present situations with the past occurrences effortlessly. The characters brought their uniqueness to the overall story. The steamy scenes between Claire and Erin's relations made for an interesting read. They were neither too graphic to put the reader off or mild to detract from the intended scene being depicted.
Anyone looking for a fun, easy romance will really enjoy Curve Couture. This is a book I would recommend to young adults and mature readers due to the sexual content. I found myself immersed in the story and rooting for the main characters as their relationship blossomed. The book is well written and worth the 4 out of 4 stars rating.
