An historical romance novel that seems to offer an intriguing plot. The switching of accents back and forth does not appeal to me, but I do appreciate that the story has been well written and the characters well developed. Thanks for the great review.

This is a book based on slavery and how the master was not cruel or harmful, if anything he was more forgiving and humble to have slaves do something passionate other than working on a plantation.

Historical romances aren’t what I would go for but I love your mention of how it has villains you love to hate! Especially with such a tough subject as slavery, I wonder how she manages to find hope in her situation. Thanks for your review!

The storyline sounds very fascinating. This should be a very intriguing historical fiction title. Thanks a lot for the amazing review and recommendation.

This was a beautifully written review as the reviewer knew just how to tug at the heart strings. I'm not interested in historical romance but this sounds like one hell of a book. Good job.

I would always go for historical romance novels anyday, anytime. I really can't wait to read this. Although, I do hope it's not the typical historical romance stories. Thanks for the wonderful review!

Thanks, but I have absolutely NO interest in reading about a slave's journey to overcoming the hardships that slaves have, or whatever.

Although the cover doesn't look good to me, the plot sounds emotional and adventurous. I agree that switching accents might be annoying, but I will have to see for myself.

I don't typically enjoy historical romances, and this one just doesn't speak to me. As someone who grew up playing the piano, I also find it hard to believe that Lily was able to practice in secret for years. Pianos are generally not quiet!

Perhaps the "switching accents" as you say is due to a different context. People do speak differently in an informal situation, even if they know how to and do use what someone referred to as "television English". :) But I'll have to check and see if this is the case.
Thank you for the informative and objective review!

Seems like an interesting and unique historical romantic novel. The storyline seems thrilling and I'm curious about the punishment. Great review.

A historical slave novel is usually not up my alley but this also feels like a book of a young girl discovering herself. I won't mind giving it a try. Thanks for the review

The book looks interesting and promising. It is interesting that she was made a slave but has s friend in the masters son, and then goes on to learn the piano and gets a better life. It must be a unique story and situation and I would have been interested to read it if it were without sex scenes
Reading gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are
