For many generations there have been a set of four sisters who are born with immense power. They have have power over earth, water, fire and wind. There is a secret cult called the Order whose obsession over the years has been to sacrifice the four sisters in order to gain more power. The Order works for the Four who are powerful alchemists who gain more power by every sacrifice that is made. The Four sacrifice the sisters either at birth or wait for their powers to be stronger then they do it. The Order is led by a Grand Master who makes it his duty to hunt down the sisters and sacrifice them for the Four.
Asha who has power over fire, Avaia whose power is over the wind, Ivy over earth and Mere over water, were separated at birth by a young Master Miles. Each sister is put under the care of a guardian. The four have grown separate lives and gone through different huddles to be who they are. There is also a set of brothers who have the same powers as the sisters. Cole has power over water, Aron over wind, Rio over water and Clay over earth. The brothers have been brought up by the Order and have grown into the beliefs of the cult.
Using his powers Clay tracks down Asha whom he is supposed to kill but he doesn't because he has been in love with her from his dreams. Their meeting unveils the very strong connection the two share. The guardians of Ivy and Mere are killed by the Order, and Ivy goes out to find her sisters and reunites with Avia and Mere. Later when attacked by the Order, they reunite with Asha too and together they are stronger than they ever were. The sisters have to work on trusting the brothers so that they can bring the Four down. The sisters and the brothers later put their powers together to fight against the Four and they discover the eight have so much power together.
It is an amazing mix of action, romance, fiction and paranormal powers. The book was an easy read I could not put it down till I read the last page. It only has 231 pages and the story flows well, there are no slow motions. Every character fit their role and reading the book I felt like I was in their with them, feeling all their felt. Every scene is well described, the writer was not too wordy in the descriptions but she made her points clear and understandable.
The only setback would be, the writer doesn't give us a good understanding of the characters' past. I understood Asha because a glimpse to her past was given but the other sisters and the brothers a lot about them was not said. The suspense at the end left me hungering for me. It was hard summarizing the novel in a few words because every thing has been exciting to read and I would have loved to say it all.
I loved reading Unbalanced and I give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. There were no grammatical errors I noted and the story flow was perfect. I hope there will be a next book continuing the story where it ended. I would recommend this book to all lovers of paranormal powers with a mix of romance and action.
