Asha wanted to overcome her guilt because of what she had done in the past. But she was unknown to her image as ‘The Warrior Queen’ and ‘A Ruthless Soul’ in the eyes of the outside world. She had the power of controlling fire but she used it as minimal as possible. She wanted nothing but to help people. She kept the people in need under her wing and supported them with their livelihoods. But one day a men walks into her rather peaceful life, claiming to be a doctor and having no intentions but to help her with what she was doing.

But was he what he was claiming to be? Was he there to help her or was he trapping her? What were his intentions? With the doctor’s arrival, she is dragged into a new world. A world she never thought existed was now in front of her eyes. Myths, magic, prophecy and dark energies surround her and she can’t help but wonder how she should have doubted her own existence a long time ago. She comes across lies and truths of her life that shake the ground under her feet (literally) and turns her world upside down.

If I have to describe Unbalanced in one word, it would be ‘Amazing’. This is one of the best novels I have read so far. The prologue of the story gave me the idea that it would have a plot where I would come across characters with swords and iron shields, battling with armies of soldiers having horses and elephants and destruction of life to the extremes. I would be lying if I said I was disappointed. This book was beyond my expectations and I seriously fell in love with it. The action scenes put me on edge every time. The plot is beautiful and unique. The characters are not perfect and that is what I liked about it. Courtney Shepard didn’t write them to be perfect. They had their own flaws and haunted pasts.

The story is written in the third person’s perspective which could have been a risk because of the confusion it can get the readers into. But the scenes and changes in perspectives was written with so much precision that it eliminated this problem. Everything in this book was intriguing and urged me to read it till the end. So there was nothing that I did not like about it. There were no grammatical or spelling mistakes which led me to increase the number of stars. The story kept me hooked up from the start till the end and all the time that I spent on reading it were worth it.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because of the fine way in which it is written along with the plot and characters. If you are not a fan of romance and magic then you should just leave this book on the sidelines but if you are, then I recommend you to get this book in your shelf as soon as possible.
