Childhood is an essential time of life for humans. Whatever children experience will surely affect them when they grow up into adults. This is why parents should ensure that this foundation is well-structured. This also means that whoever decides to bring a child into this world should be ready to make the sacrifices needed. In this book, Beyond Aquarius, by Jennifer Freed, we read about the stories of Jules and Cam and how their childhood molded them into what they were.

Cameron grew up in a wealthy family. She had just gone through a rebellious stage in her life, which she deeply regrets. Against her father's wishes, she had dated and lived with a guy—Brett. Soon she realized her mistake as she began to notice his controlling and abusive behavior. Back to her father, she cajoled him into paying for a month-long trip to Hawaii for her. She wanted to clear her head and redefine her life while she did the yoga teacher training. It was there that she met Jules. She was a free-spirited girl that lived her life having fun after fun. Cam didn't like sharing a room with her. They were two very different people. However, things took a turn when they got stuck in a cave for four days during a serious flood. By the time they were rescued, they'd gotten to know each other enough to realize that they'd misjudged each other. That began a lifelong strong friendship between both of them.

I like reading romance books, but this was not my type of romance. It was an unusual queer romance, so if you don't appreciate romance books like this, then this book is not for you. As much as this was not my type of romance plot, it was entertaining to read about Jules and Cam and the life they led. Jules was an astrologer well-sought after for her knowledge. Hence, this book was mostly filled with her astrological thoughts and conclusions. For example, she defined her friend, Cam, as a Cancer Sun, Virgo Moon, and Taurus Rising. It was reassuring to know that the author of this book is a renowned psychological astrologer. This means that the astrological ideas in it, which are quite many, are to be trusted by those who appreciate the field.

There was nothing I disliked about this book. It was a whole new genre experience for me. The only negative I can think of that doesn't affect my view of the book was my thought that Cam and Jules would have continued to do better as best friends than as lovers. However, this is a personal opinion and doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed reading about the exotic places and people Jules met. She always had something good to say about people. I recommend this book to adults who appreciate astrology in a romance story.
