Forever: Richard and Kate's Love Story by Barbara L Monahan.

Richard Lawton is in love with Kate O'Connor.
Kate's father is extremely strict and won't allow Kate to date until after the prom. When Kate finally agrees to go to the senior prom with him, Richard is over the moon. After the prom, they start dating. Richard can see himself married to Kate forever, but Kate's Catholic beliefs begin to get in the way. You see, Richard is a Methodist. While Richard is away studying at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, Kate meets and falls in love with Mike Flannigan, who is also a Catholic, and marries him. Richard is heartbroken upon hearing this news and marries on the rebound. However, he can't seem to forget Kate.

The ups and downs that life has in store for both Richard and Kate, make this book a real page-turner. To the outside world, Kate's life is ideal. Behind closed doors, another story unfolds. It takes Kate many years to come to terms with the breakdown of her marriage. The way she turns her life around is just amazing. Richard has also experienced his share of hardship within his marriage. When his wife's health takes a turn for the worse, he has some hard decisions to make.

Forty years later, much has changed in his life. Their forty-year class reunion looms, but because of unforeseen circumstances, Richard is unable to attend, much to his disappointment. He was looking forward to seeing his old classmates, especially one in particular. Richard then hears some news regarding Kate and the course her life has taken over the last forty years. He hopes this might finally be his second chance to have a life with her. Can the fact that he is Methodist and Kate is a devout Catholic finally be overcome, and their happily ever after come true? You will need to read Forever to find out.

The editing of this book is not the best. I found several errors, but otherwise, I love how the author takes us on the journey of Richard and Kate's lives from each of their points of view. There are moments throughout the book that I couldn't wait to see what was to happen next. The reason I give this book a 4 out of 5 is simply because of the editing. A very enjoyable romance story.

The story sounds really moving and captivating and hence I hope that the author will consider having the book taken through another round of editing. I am wondering what was happening such that their relationship could not stand when Kate met Mike. Thank you, @Lea Hilder, for the review.
