She screamed as the large black sedan came towards her at the speed of light. Miranda accepted the fact that she was, at that moment, facing death. Author Laura Tyler tells the suspenseful and romantic story of a seemingly normal single mother in her novel titled Deadly Secrets (The Deadly Secrets Saga.)

She was starting a new chapter in her life. Miranda Hannigan’s marriage was over. She and her six-year-old son, Sam, were looking forward to the remodel of their home. The house was full of sad memories. Miranda’s grandmother had been murdered there, and Flynn, Miranda’s ex-husband battled cancer in the house. He defeated the cancer but attempted suicide in a bedroom in the house. Miranda could not deny that Mike, the owner of the construction company that she hired to do work on her house, evoked romantic feelings. However, her heart belonged to Heath. Heath had been there in her most desperate moments.

As Miranda began the work on her house, and her heart, International Equities was deciding how she should be dealt with. This well-known financial firm had reason to believe that very sensitive material was somewhere on Miranda’s property. They did what had to be done to silence her grandmother, and Miranda could meet the same end.

This book has a bit of everything. There are elements of romance, mystery, action, and more. I am a historical fiction fan, and this story provides satisfying moments of times long ago as well. Miranda is a strong and relatable protagonist. The growth she experienced comfortably moved the plot of the story forward.

This novel was skillfully written and edited. There were a few grammar errors in the book, but these errors did not cause distractions. However, most of the story is told from Miranda’s point of view. At times, the story changes to a third-person point of view with no warning or explanation. This caused some confusion. Furthermore, the protagonist used phrases that were inconsistent with her personality. I believe that this story would benefit from a uniform third-person point of view. Still, I recommend this book to fiction readers who enjoy thrilling romantic stories.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. This is a well-written and well-organized novel. However, there are a few point of view issues and character personality inconsistencies in the story. Nevertheless, I was entertained by Miranda’s story from start to finish. This is an engaging and action-packed romance novel.

I do enjoy books that don't fit solidly into one genre or another. It makes them more interesting to me. However, since this seems to be mostly romance, I don't think I'm going to read this one. I am kind of curious, though, if Miranda is able to get over Heath or not. Thanks for the review.

Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres. I'm very curious about the nature of the "sensitive material." Very compelling review.

Romance and thriller are my two favorite genres, so this book sounds pretty appealing to me.
I hope it gets a second editing run because I can see why it´s confusing.
Thanks for your review!

I'm not a fan of historical fiction but I love romance and action. Miranda's story is worth a try.
