The strength of a relationship is always determined by the bond that knits people together. One Way or Another: A Friends to Lovers Contemporary Romance revolves around four sisters born in riches. It is the first book in The Sisters Quartet Series. This romance novel is written by Mary J. Williams.
Andy, Calder, Bryce and Destry are sisters from different fathers. Their mother is a self-absorbed person who keeps chasing after men. Since they were young, the sisters only ever had each other to lean on. They even have a common room where they meet and share their highs and lows. Calder, who takes most part of the story runs a multi-million dollar non-profit organization. Her elder sister Andi is a fashion designer, Bryce is a writer and Destry, the youngest lives a mysterious life. These sisters are beautiful, rich and independent. They live their lives watching out for each other since their mother is emotionally unavailable. All they have is Ms. Finch, their housekeeper as their mother figure. Their life is threatened when men approach them for love. Will they ever be able to trust and distinguish men with good intentions from the rest? All their lives they have been surrounded by deception and betrayal which shattered their trust.
The character development is amazing. The author makes us fall in love with her characters and their personalities effortlessly. The detailed description of events gives a clear image of what is going on. I loved the independence of sisters and the love they have for each other. In the beginning I thought that the girls were naive and gullible, which is not the case. They are strong, beautiful and make sound decisions. I loved how fate brought Calder and Adam together and that marked the beginning of a great love story. Though the main story is about Calder and Adam, the other people have their fair share in the story.
Money draws opportunists towards the Benedict sisters which toughens them and they shield each other. Their mother is not very well portrayed since she is egocentric. I felt like the relationship between Calder and Adam grew too fast and was rushed.
This is my first book to read from Mary J. Williams and I wasn't disappointed. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars because the story is amazing and I couldn't put the book down. I also felt like the book was professionally edited. I recommend it to any reader who loves hot romance. What a great way to start a series!
