Caulder is not the spoiled rich kid most would assume since she grew up with money. You’d never believe she turned out that way since her mother is flighty and her father absentee. She and her 3 sisters are very close though, and they support each other like a loving family should. Despite being filthy rich, she and her sisters work, not because they have to, but because they want to. In fact, Caulder starts her own charity. But, guarding themselves, and their vulnerable mother, from those who would like to get close, just for their money, is a real threat.

Caulder and Adam meet when Caulder’s date doesn’t know the meaning of “no”. Then she literally bumps into Adam the next day. Though neither Adam nor Caulder want a long term relationship, they both want the other enough to start dating. Through a series of past relationships coming back to haunt them, and villains infiltrating her mother’s nonexistent defenses, Caulder and Adam find that they love each other enough for forever.

I give One Way or Another by Mary J. Williams 4 out of 4 stars. The story was intriguing. Both of the main characters acted with maturity and a genuine integrity that most fall short of today. It is clear to the reader that they care deeply for the people in their lives, and for those who might be less fortunate. I loved the fact that neither let social status interfere with how they felt about others or each other. Caulder allows herself to be vulnerable without being weak and Adam is Alpha male without being overbearing. I truly like both of them, and together they make a great couple. It made me happy to think of them as a couple.

This book leaves some unfinished business though. There is an investigation that is left ongoing. I got the impression that it will continue through to the next book in the series, maybe all the books. Also, a plot bomb is dropped at the end of the book. This, I am sure will be a major plot shaper in the next book if not all of them. I know this is a great way to create excitement and mystery for the upcoming books, but I would have liked to see them resolved.

All in all, One Way or Another, is a great read for any romance lover, especially contemporary romance. Likable characters, interesting plot, and lots of romance. I look forward to reading the rest of this book series.
