What do you think of the setting of the book?

As the title suggests what do you think of the setting of the book? Is it strange, interesting, different. The book is set in Tokyo, Japan.

Hmmm....I feel like you're looking for more than just "I liked the setting", but this is an odd question.

I like books set in Japan, in part because I used to live there and can relate to a lot of the places, foods, and cultural references.

I enjoyed how part of it took place away from the big cities, as well. It shows a certain intimacy the author has with the land.

I thought it was interesting that both of the main female characters had moved from what felt like home to them to places where they didn't necessarily fit in. But I guess it was their home for "the time being" if I may morph the phrase a little bit.
