Need help starting my memoir

I've always known that I would write the story of my life. I wanted to wait until I was in a better place, meaning in a stable relationship and better off financially. Lately I've been thinking I shouldn't wait that long, you never know how much time you have on this Earth. I am in a much much better place than where I used to be, so I do have a lot to share and I believe what I've learned in life -as a result of the trauma I've been through- can be a big help to others.

There's a few problems though. For one, frankly I'm uneducated. I'm not an idiot and I could physically write a book that folks can understand but I would want to do this properly so to speak. I'm really great at starting projects and getting bored half way through as my garden can attest. It would be great if I had a co-writer (?) or something of the equivalent. How would I go about finding a decent writer to help with my story? What would be some pros and cons?

I sometimes have lots of free time and sometimes I'm really busy. As I alluded to earlier I'm trying to better myself and typing away at the PC would take time I could be using to go to school which I desperately need to do. Also my health can swing from wildly from healthy to more or less crippled.

I haven't totally tossed out the idea of writing this myself, but I would need a clear cut plan or schedule with an end in sight otherwise it might not ever be finished.

Any advice is appreciated.
