PAULO COELHO'S NEW BOOK!

Post by aarthilal »

THE WINNER STANDS ALONE is a masterpiece: it talks about values lost and never found again. It looks like a thriller, but it is not - the characters are trapped and manipulated by the people Coelho calls "The Superclass". Once more Coelho made it. And I also believe Coelho is one of the few writers that are always exploring unknown seas, instead of repeating the same plot over and over again. Kudos to him.

I've only read two of Coelho's books -- "The Alchemist" and "By the River Piedra I Sat Down & Wept". The Alchemist was amazing, one of my favorite books. The story in 'River Piedra' was a bit contrived in my opinion. I love his writing style though, and will hopefully get around to reading his new book, and maybe some of his older ones.

better than the alchemist (that's the only one I've read)?? I know he's been giving away books for free, too, which is pretty awesome...

The book is not bad, but i prefer the first book "The Alchemist" "The Winner Stands Alone" was predictable for me , but thanks the author - the book is worth reading as all his books.

I agree with you,Paul is one of the writers whose writings guide and educate the readers from as many perceptions the reader might think over his books.
I am one of his admirers.

One of my friends just got Brida, but I haven't had any reviews about the book but now I know that it is wonderful. I'll definitely check out the winner stands alone, too. The title is interesting!

Your hair and fingernails DO NOT continue to grow after death, so Coelho was wrong, at least concerning this fact he wrote in this novel, been very pleased with the great amount of facts and useful information he gives in his books, I suddenly became skeptical and doubtful when I had read this false statement, I wonder how many false and uncertain information had he been telling us in his books?

Coelho tried in this novel, to write in a thrilling style, in a story line that does occur in less than 24 hours, exactly like Dan Brown novels, however, the story is usually broken up with long flashbacks, that were very entertaining in the beginning , but become boring because of the repetitiveness of their topics, as they bring nothing useful nor new to the story, for example, the story is cut too many times to describe the same thoughts going on inside the mind of Igor, or to describe how the film industrie works in its back-stages. We are not against flashbacks, but if they occur half a dozen of time, to say always the same thing, then it becomes really silly and boring.

I hated the ending very much, however, I must confess that this is one of the most surprising and unexpected endings I've ever read.

Finaly, this is not Coelho's best work, but Like all his novels, I recommend it
