Bursting Through the Writers Block

Post by GliddenBooks »

While we all know the importance of generating content on a routine basis, writer block is the common enemy easily defeated through a little ingenuity. One of the best tools I have found when I find myself stumped and starved of inspiration is free and easily accessible via iPhone. The app is called Flash Fiction Prompter (FFP) and basically provides you with a random pairing of character, setting, and plot. While fiction is not my preferred medium, this exercise is fun, engaging and sometimes difficult, but can become attainable and inspiring as you strive to churn out at least 1,000 words to link the topics together. For example, your prompt pairing may be: a dermatologist, a garden, and a character that manipulates their way to the top.

The next time you experience a block, gives this a go and see if you don't burst right through!

Can't do this for yourself? By this I of course mean thinking random thoughts.
