Next plateau for digital books

Post by Draegon Grey »

Within the last 5 years, the literature world seems to have changed so much. With the advent and ease of self publishing, the landscape is so different. Technology is changing constantly and quickly. What do you think is next for the self publisher? Maybe combining reading and entertainment(i.e. music, videos), sort of bringing life to the story? I imagine there will always be the true paperback or hardback reader, but for others?

I guess there are audiobooks out there with different people reading for each of the voices, and sound effects added to bring it more to life. Is that what you meant by combining reading and entertainment?

Essentially. With so many new authors and digital books, I think there needs to be some format that will distinguish each author's work. Will technology be flexible enough to allow for a self publisher to pretty much create a 'live' story? Create a story that is just short of a movie? Wouldn't that be awesome to actually without having to worry about having your work optioned, to do it yourself?
