Are Generative AI Services Changing the Way We Write Fiction?

Post by inba thiru »

Hi fellow writers and readers,

I wanted to start a conversation about something that’s been popping up more and more in the writing world—Generative AI services. Tools like ChatGPT and others are now being used to brainstorm plots, flesh out characters, and even draft entire chapters. It's a huge shift, especially for those of us who’ve spent years refining our own creative process.

Some say these AI tools are just another form of inspiration—like a modern-day writing partner—while others worry they might dilute the authenticity of storytelling. I’ve tried a few generative AI services myself to help with outlining and dialogue suggestions, and I’ll admit, it’s been surprisingly helpful when I hit a creative wall.

But it also raises questions:

How much AI assistance is too much?

Should we consider AI-generated writing as “our own”?

And is this the future of writing, or just a passing trend?

I'd love to hear from others here: have you used Generative AI services in your writing process? If so, how has it influenced your creativity, productivity, or voice as a writer?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
