Unlike FreeRice, the Hunger Project actually gives some details. I could nitpick about the things that they don't tell us but still, it's much better than the FreeRice setup which provides almost NO information.

Here's the Hunger Project quote (Since I'm a new member and can't link to it)

Is The Hunger Site a nonprofit organization?

The Hunger Site is not a nonprofit organization and cannot accept financial donations directly.

GreaterGood is an independent charitable organization devoted to addressing the health and well-being of people (particularly women and children), animals, and the planet. GreaterGood dot org distributes funds generated through the GreaterGood Network of websites to the many charitable organizations responsible for implementing programs named on these sites. 100% of the funds generated through the GreaterGood Network pass through GreaterGood go to our partner charities.

We also encourage you to donate directly to:

Mercy Corps, America's Second Harvest

How Do I Know This is Real?

There are a number of ways you can be assured that The Hunger Site is for real.

Visit Snope's wbsite, the Urban Legends Reference Pages.
Read the article on us at Wikipedia.
Contact our charitable partners directly:

Mercy Corps - Dept. W, PO Box 2669, Portland, OR 97208-2669

America's Second Harvest, 35 E. Wacker Dr., #2000, Chicago, IL 60601

For information and ratings of our charitable partners, visit Charity Navigator (charitynavigator dot org).

See also our Press page for articles that have been published about The Hunger Site.

Here you go, johnegood:
From the FAQ page of FreeRice wrote:Is FreeRice a non-profit organization?

FreeRice is simply a website committed to the cause of ending hunger around the world. While it is not a registered non-profit organization, it is run entirely for free and makes no profit. All money raised by the site goes to the UN World Food Program to help feed the hungry. Sponsors make all payments to the UN World Food Program directly.
Sounds good to me. As long as the sponsors know where their money is going, what harm does it do to play the game?

I suppose this is a good way to better your vocabulary, and I just got 120 grains of rice donated, although that's little compared to other people.

Nice site . Does it matter how much they earn. Atleast they are doing some social work unlike most other companies . Thanks for linking .

The hunger site is very legitimate. What a clever way to generate some income and help people out at the same time. Pretty great.
