Who will be doing Nanowrimo this year?

I've said for the past three years that I will do NaNoWriMo and I aways chicken out. I really want - and need - to participate this year though! I want to write a cozy mystery.

Does anyone have any advice for my first time participating in NaNoWriMo?

I have attempted NaNoWriMo annually for quite a few years now. I’ve never been able to meet the deadline (yet), but I always end up with something that has a lot of potential. I fully intend to try again this year with a concept and characters that have been floating around in my head for a while now. I’ve learned at this point, that even if life gets in the way again and I can’t complete my goal by the end of the month, I will still have a lot of usable material. I don’t have to abandon my project simply because the month is over.

I try every year to do NaNo but I have failed miserably except on 2 occasions. This year I have a lot going om around that time but I have no doubt that I will still try!

Set goals and have a general idea of what you want to do. At the very least have your beginning, middle, and end fleshed out enough to connect them together. And honestly? Just throw out whatever. Even if it sounds bad as you're putting it down, it's still something. Editing is for December, after all.

I did NaNo for like 4 years in a row so I have some amount of experience, though I haven't had the time or energy in recent years to participate.

I tried it 6 years back and enjoyed it a lot while I was doing it, but life situations got in the way. I didn't quite get to the goal, but I've been writing off and on with that same project since then. Nothing really publishable quality, mind you. I don't think I will attempt it this year (too much going on), but I might in future years.

Um, I'm going to try next month! Maybe a children's novel. I don't know how you could do it otherwise!
