Do you like to be alone when you write?

I rather be alone and in silence. I just can't focus at all on what I'm doing if there's people around making noise, or music, or any kind of movement that might distract me.

Usually, yes, but it depends a lot on where I am with a story. Sometimes, it makes no difference if I am in an auditorium with an enthusiastic speaker talking, I can write. But mostly, I prefer no distractions. I do not even listen to music. (I find myself getting into the song rather than putting words to a story)

I mean, I don't mind coffee shops and such as I'm still technically "alone" by myself there, but I can't imagine writing when I'm surrounded by friends or people that actually interact with me.

I prefer to be alone to minimize distractions, but I do not have to be. Ideally I prefer quiet or relaxing music in the background. I also find spending time out in nature helps calm my mind which helps me focus.

I pretty much have to be alone when I write. I'm self-conscious about my writing and don't want my irl friends and family asking me about what I am working on. I literally would stop writing if my roommate came back into the room and sat in the opposite side of where I was, simply out of pure fear of her asking me what I was writing and having to explain.

However, I do need some sort of sound while writing, whether that be music or television/videos. I can't stand silence and find it hella distracting.

Indeed. I get distracted and lose concentration easily. I need to be alone when I write 100% of the time. If there is any noise I am not able to concentrate fully. Sad.

I don't need to be alone when I write, I just need to be left alone. I don't mind having family or friends around me, but they know that they shouldn't be trying to talk to me while I'm writing. Sometimes writing in public places like a library or coffee shop really helps me.

I have to be alone in a quiet room to write. If the television is on my mind is trying to compose and also process what is on t.v. Too distracting. It just makes sense to be alone to put your full attention on your work.

I can have a room full of people around me, so long as they are not trying to interact with me in some way, I can write.

I like to be alone when I write, but I don’t mind if other people are with me. As long as they’re not being distracting or trying to look over my shoulder at what I’m writing, I’m fine.
