My attempts at being a Horror Writer,

I like to exchange my own real life fears into novels. Adding the supernatural touch that makes the moment, it doesn't have to be a scary spooky night where all you can hear is scary noises in the outside window.

It can be a normal sunny day hanging out on the beach shore and chilling with your own mates.

My fears can be anything really, I am going to be honest. When I was about 11 and 10. I was scared of the dark, my brother and I share a room. He always shuts the door and turns the light off. I always hid under my blankets with a breather and an eye hole. I always use to think of my fears,

The Creature From The Black Lagoon was scary for me at the time, I was very young and frightened of my own imagination, sometimes a random figure would enter my head and I would think about escaping my own reality.

Oh that seems personal. How did you deal it then?

My brother had the same experience. He was scared of me. He thought that I was somewhat monster to him and would eat him. But that was a long time ago.

Ha, I see. A lot of kids can be afraid of anything..

My fear mainly faded out from growing older, I couldn't get rid of my addiction for Horror Novels & Films. I kept watching it, the older movies scared me much more then the newer ones. Everytime I saw the Creature From The Black Lagoon I always use to get excited, but at late at night I always use to be scared and cringe to myself.

One of my favourite quotes is "Imaginary fears are harder to bear than real ones". And I think the theme of fear is a great motivator for both reader and writer.

I find a lot of the responses interesting. I am therefore prompted to ask whether people know the difference between getting a momentary lift by seeing or listening to something, on the one hand, and being inspired leading them down the path to achieving something substantial over the long haul, on the other? Reading the responses I just do not get the feeling it is the latter.

That question scares me...I pictured it being said in a dark, deep and ominous voice...

As for being inspired, I was inspired by the dream I had last night, but it was too gruesome to write down, for me at least.

Sorry if this gets on your nerves, but I am curious about this dream. Gruesome sounds interesting to me, the way it developes is just breath taking.

Jacob, I'm going to have to pretend I didn't read the thread about how old everyone is if I tell you anything about this dream I had...not that it is that bad, but I'm a mom and former elementary school teacher, so I really should know better.

I was (or the main character because it wasn't actually me) a serial killer who slit their victims throats. The wound left on the throat always resembled this hideous reddish black dried blood smiley face. And just to be more sick, this matched the gruesome smile that was plastered on the victim's dead face.

There is more, but that is the description of what happened to the victims. I feel like I had gone to bed after reading (or watching) Dexter, or the short story Serial.

If I turn it into a short story, I'll let you know...

I can encompassing publications, videos, video sport, melodies, and discerned behaviors from the persons that enclose me. This accumulated material isn't actually what I would call inspiration for me though. This material is only fuel and is meaningless on its own. The inspiration arrives when I am adept to attach these concepts together..

I like writing about 'survival'. (Supposedly sci-fi and action)

So I suppose a non-fiction book survives me with their interesting facts.
:D Enjoy your day~

Sorry to hear that, that must of been a wild dream. It's good not to talk about this anymore, but that entire dream must resemble something in reality.

I never thought I could write when I was younger, that's still debatable, always admired those who could. Then after reading thousands of books it occured to me that maybe I could try and now writing inspires me once I get started I can't stop, even when I think I have no ideas they seem to just come out of me.I read some where a good phrase the other day.
"how do I write a book?" and the answer was nobody needs to know how, they just want permission .
which I thought was great because that's so true of me,I write because I enjoy writing that way if no one else likes my work it does not matter :D

I wouldn't say that it resembles anything in real life. That would be like saying that an author who dreams about vampires and then writes his or her story must be a vampire or someone in their life is. It was a dream that had excessive creative overtones in it. Think of this dream as someone watching a movie, and I was the movie goer.
