Writing On WattPad

Post by Kate_But_Not_Kaitlyn »

Do/Have any of y'all written on WattPad. If so for how long?
I've been writing on the platform for almost two years now and was wondering if anyone else on here had experience with it.

(If so and you don't mind me reading your works, drop your handle below and I'll check your stuff out.) :D

I haven't, though I've heard tell of some interesting stories on there.

Yeah I mean there's some interesting stuff especially the really smutty fics but there's also a really cool group of YA fiction writers. We're actually in Watty season right now so everyone's putting their show horses into the ring.

I have seen several threads on Facebook from authors who feel that WattPad does nothing to protect a writers rights to his work. I have not been there my self but suggest you do some research before you start posting your hard earned prose or poetry there.

I think that Wattpad is a wonderful place to play around and have fun as a writer! However, I definitely wouldn't post my best work on Wattpad. As someone who's interested in publishing professionally, I tend to save my best pieces to send to magazines as many magazines will not accept pieces that have already been published online. So that's definitely something to consider!

Yeah I mean sometimes the rules suck because WattPad likes to take ownership of the works that win their contests and get adapted to hard copy novels and shows and stuff but I like the exposure on some of my works that I'm not as invested in.
I have a novella I've been working on for over a year and I'm in the process of getting that copyrighted and e-published. That one I've put too much work into for it to just be published on a forum.

I'm not sure how to search for good stories on Wattpad. Usually I found very short and undeveloped fan fictions, and sometimes it's just images!
