What the heck is dystopian writing? I keep hearing that fraise, but I'm not sure what it means.

It's anti-utopian. Novels like The Hunger Games, The Road, 1984, etc., would be considered dystopian. Post-apocalyptic literature often falls under this category.

Specifically, it's a society that appears Utopian on the outside, but is actually a society that tyrannizes its citizens.
