Which writing format to use?

I am developing a plot for a young adult novel, but I do not know if I should write it in poetry form or not. I am most comfortable with poetry form, but I don't know if others will appreciate that format as well as traditional prose.
What do you think?

I try to write in both formats all the time. It would probably be better to write in prose if it's going to be a long story. Or you can just simply amaze us with poetry. In the end it's all about what you're most comfortable with.

You have to write it the way that you think works best. Trying to write something based on "what will people want?" tends to interfere with your voice and result in something with less impact. Since you're most comfortable with poetry, go with that. Once you've got the story done, then you can see what reactions and suggestions you get, and decide what to do from there.

Although the decision of writing in poetry or not can best be answered by your own heart for the particular piece you are writing, and indeed your decision should be based on - what would give the best feel and expression to what you want to convey, rather than what people want. But yes, if you are really the kind of one who loves to try and around and play with words differently every now and then, maybe not this time, but do try prose too. Many a times we learn from trying different things, and many a times we create things wonderfully and most amazingly when we move out of our comfort zone. So a decision needs to be taken should not be based on what people want, or your comfort zone - but what you imagination says about the piece of literature you are going to write! Happy writing, All the best!
