I would name it like "The forbidden" or "Heart of Stone"

I think I would name it "The Small Captain" or "the Republic of Nebulia"

I have to start the story first; once I know what's going on, then I can figure out what the title is. I have not *yet* started something from a title idea.

For me, it's a bit cast in stone, or written in blood (ha ha).

I'm writing a series of modern private detective novels, and like many series, the titles have a common format, as with the John Sandford "Prey" mysteries.

For me, my novels are titled "Blood something". The first two books are "Blood Spiral" and "Blood Storm" (published) and the 3rd, in progress, is "Blood Vengeance".

I've therefore got a whole list of titles listed, just waiting for the 75,000-odd words to fill in beneath the title (ha ha).

I'm thinking of using the title 'Crown of Laurels' for the first book in series that deals with Roman Demigods and Faeries and either 'Throne of Ice' or 'Heart of Ice' for the second book in the series.

Those seem to be excellent titles, avatar. Somewhat gripping and not too long. I'd lose anything containing the word "Throne" however, so that it won't evoke concepts of the current TV series.

Also keep in mind that the editor or publisher has the right to changes your book title and you have no say in the matter (except to of course take your stories elsewhere to sell). So don't get too attached to a title.

Incidentally, since you're writing some stories with Roman history as at least a basic background, I'd highly recommend the Brit historian Adrian Goldsworthy for any history books to use for source. He's a superb writer and his histories read like a novel. I've emailed him occasionally and I found him always helpful to answer questions about the Roman era.

:D Thank you for the information!

My next novel is called The Diamond. After that, my tentative schedule of ideas are:

Titan Mine
Memory
Father's Day
The Relative Age

After that, I'm toying with a couple of other ideas, so who knows?

It would definitely depend on what type of book I'd write.
