I write what comes to me. It would be hard to please others all the time.

Most people write about what others want (obviously). I just write reviews thus i too write what others want since why would i write a review for myself? :)
When people say you've changed, it just means that you have stopped living your life, their way.

This is an interesting question. Sometimes when I'm writing I think 'What would others think of me if they read what I wrote?' In that way I might sensor my true feelings because I might be too embarrassed to expose what I truly feel.

i have seen a man wanting to weep

instead
beat his heart until it was unconscious.

I think authors should write for what they want, with touches of what others want. Good editors help you figure out what is 'too you' instead of what it should be!

This is a good question! I have such passion for writing, but I find if I do too much of writing what others want I really start to lose my passion for writing and that leads me into a serious slump.

i write fiction. Basically that means I write to entertain. Entertainment has to be the priority. Now, if you are familiar with my novels, you'll realise I also write about difficult subject matter - racism, vivisection, and, yes, I've tackled religion. But it is my wish the reader is entertained first and foremost. It is my understanding that difficult subject matter is better digested whilst wrapped in entertainment. It is why I love fiction and storytelling... The craft and the art is to offer new perspectives on familiar themes, policies, traditions...

I try to write kind of down the road. I try to push the envelope as far as whatever genre I maybe writing in and then I also write what other people may want to read as well

If it's one of my stories, I write what I want to write. Even if the topic isn't a popular one with the masses, I'll write it anyway.

I write what I want. But once I start writing, some little voice inside of me takes over. It dictates what I write and I go with its bidding. Some sometimes, a story I initiate ends up in a manner I never envisaged.

I write what I want to write because I feel that's how I'll do my story proud, but I also make a point of not sharing it with anyone I know from outside a writing group, so there's that haha

I write what I want-- to an extent. For example, obviously for this book review site, I have to adhere to the rules. But, when I journal or write for my blog, I do it for me first and foremost. I do it this way because that's the only way I'll truly enjoy my writing time, and when I'm ENJOYING this time guess what happens? My best work comes to light. Versus es when I'm doing it under the confines of other's expectations... it cripples my imagination, and puts a block on my creativity. So, yes, I write mostly what I want.
