Stories broken down into spellings.

Hello everyone and thanks for clicking into this thread.

Let me ask you - how difficult would it be for my childs spellings to be used as plot points for a story?

Allow me to explain.

Remember back at school when we were all given spellings. More than likely we had a week to remember them. No doubt, most of us left it to the last minute. That was it, the dreaded spelling over for another week. Single layer learning.

Back at my school, we were given just the words to learn. But now, my little girl has to learn the words and put them into a sentence. Double layer learning.

Well, I'm all for that, but then she has to come up with a story or poem as an entirely different exercise and start a different thought process.

Would it be possible or are any teachers doing it already, where they enable complex projects by completing simple tasks. (once a project lead always a project lead).

For example, a teacher sets:-
  • 1.Spellings to learn.
    2. Write ten sentences which include the spellings.
    3. Use you sentences and write a story.
Not only would this teach children spelling and sentence structure, but would also expose then to planning and plotting and an awareness of thought processes.
