Writing Prompts

Every writer knows the feeling of wanting to write something but not knowing what. We all need a little inspiration every now and then, and that's what writing prompts are for. So gather all ye writers here and post a writing prompt for our fellow writers to gain inspiration from. Whether it be one you read somewhere else, or something you made up on the spot, all are welcome here.


And, to start things off, here's a fairly simple one:

While exploring the attic, a child finds an old key.

When Dad popped the hood, the radiator blasted him with steam. Watching him curse the car, it occurred to me that we were surrounded by miles of dessert, the mafia was on our trail, and my mother's life hung in the balance.
