I would say both needs to be thought first before you pen down. But the story takes the precedence as the title should be kept flexible and the writer should be able to alter it as the story progress further.

It depends from person to person. For me, I like to have a working title first. Then, I constantly change it as I write along.

Yeah, this is exactly my point. It's better to be flexible with our titles since we are not certain if we are going to stick with our story or writing plan.

Haha, LOL! I suggest you have a working title that best suits the story you are writing based on what you have actually written.

I do! S is short for "Sequel to Homecoming" :lol2: I also never know how the story is going to pan out or what's going to happen, so I'd only end up having to change it over and over again. My beta reader and I work on a chapter-by-chapter basis. I get files from her called, "Combe Hide: Chapter 1" and all her files from me are called, "s1, s2, s3" :D

Story should be framed first then title because a title should tell the zest of your idea. Title will signify the overall idea about the story.

Title for sure. It doesn't take as long as writing a story and a short title can inspire so much, also you can change the title later on if you think it doesn't fit the stories you write any more.

Story. Title will come naturally after.

The story has to be the first.

I am a bad title maker.. I can't choose well and so I have many stories and two novels unnamed. That a shame, but I guess when time comes their name will pop just in my head.

Personally, having a story first is easier. The most difficult thing for me is finding a title or even naming my characters.
I guess each writer is different though. Some use a title as an idea for a story.

Story first. It's ok to have ideas of a title, but keeping yourself to it can limit your story. Better to find the right title at the end of a great story than have a mediocre story with a great title.

I don't know the 'best way', but I personally come up with a title first, and then the story tends to develop around that. That's just how my mind works. I can't answer for anyone else.

depends on the story, sometimes i think of a title and base the story off of that but sometimes i leave the title for last. or ill change it multiple times throughout writing the story.
