Apologies if this topic has already been posted, but any recommendations on books about learning how to write? I'm interested in learning techniques for writing in general, and also writing poetry. If you've read a book about writing that you think is good, I'd love to hear about it!

I have thinking about this too. I think the experience of reading books can help a new writer to find their style. Some of your favorite books are probably your favorite because the writer wrote well, chose a story in a certain historical place, and described the place, clothes, food, and how people interacted in that time. You can learn from each writer and think about how they planned the book, what research it took for the time the placed the story, etc. Maybe make notes about these things and you can build your stories on this. I think that is how writers begin their career this way. Good luck!
