I need help for an essay I have to write about a character in any book. I need a good book suggestion.

The question is: "examine the external/internal forces that shape your personal identity. compare your struggles to a character in a book you have read"

What character in what book would be the best choice?

Not knowing anything about you or what books you have read I cant help I'm afraid.

A good choice would be Jane Eyre, the eponymous heroine of Charlotte Bronte's novel. A lot has been written about how her character is shaped by internal and external forces - several academic essays are available on line discussing this novel. I'd post the links to them but can't as I haven't submitted enough posts on this forum to enable me to add links to my posts. Another character you might want to consider is Holden Caulfield from J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye.
