Query Letters - Questions, Problems, Frustrations

Post by Career Novelist »

Hoping to start a discussion about query letters regarding novels, or fiction. Anyone have a book they've just finished and are trying to land a literary agent? Anyone have any problems, frustrations or questions? I just finished writing a book on query letters and would love to answer some questions.

What have you done since then? Are you writing a new book? Revamping your query letter? I got so frustrated with getting rejected for the first book I wrote I ended up writing a second book just to have something different to say. The more I study debut novelists the more I find a common thread among them--almost all of them: the first book they write wasn't the first book they got published. Stephen King's first book, Carrie, was the fifth book he wrote and the number of rejection letters he received in between could have papered all the walls in his apartment and then some. Hope you are still writing.
