From a street boy to being sold into slavery, Ettore seems to have been through a lot. I'm not sure this is my type of book, so I'll skip this one.

This review made me want to jump right into the book! I want to know how Ettore survives as a captive in Algiers. Does he make it?

One can generally feel how captivated this reader was by the story. I love the positive message that was conveyed about the book and it makes me want to read it that much more. It painted such a beautiful picture without giving away any detail about the plot line. Lovely!

In this captivating story, the description of Ettore and his companions becoming slaves after losing their way at sea seems fabulous.

The sheer richness of the setting is a major merit of the book. Through Lewis, we are getting into a place where risk and expectation are on the same level. We feel the crowded marketplace, the suffocating slave market, and the luxurious world of the Pasha's palace through the timid eyes of Ettore.

In the first installment of the Muhammad Amalfi Mystery Series, author AJ Lewis tackles various issues of identity, fidelity, struggle, and friendship through the story of Ettore. I enjoyed reading the backstory in the captivating preface, which sets the setting. Congratulations on BOTD!

Ettore seems like a tenacious lad, a survivalist, who now finds himself in a heap of trouble with a possible dangerous outcome that, hopefully, will turn out to be a life changing adventure. Can’t wait to find out what happens to him, Paul and Bruno when they embark on this rigmarole gone wrong.

"A Captive in Algiers" by A. J Lewis is a gripping adventure tale. It tells the story of Ettore and his companions and how their adventurous spirit leads them into unsavoury situations which tested their resolve, spirit, and hope. However, the gem of the book lies in how they overcome these challenges. It is a creatively written one.
