Dark Visions by L.J. Smith

Post by RianneLaCoe »

Dark Visions by L.J. Smith isn't very original, and the characters were cheesy, but the main character, Kaitlyn, is a spectacular character! In the beginning she is an outcast because people consider her a witch because she has psychic powers. She has visions and during she involuntarily draws them out. She gets invited to a psychic study and is brought to an institute where she stays with other teenagers and they all have different psychic abilities!

After she gets settled there the story takes a turn into a park mystery/romantic love triangle, and I personally fell in love with Grabriel, he is considered to be the bad boy, who you can't help but be attracted to! Like I said before it's a little cheesy, but had enough twists so that once you get into the book it is definitely a page turner and hard to put down.

In the middle of the story it takes a turn down hill, not much happens.. They pretty much run from a bunch of bad guys, get away, and then it starts all over again, and I believe it could have been written a lot differently. I kept reading because I know that it couldn't all be this boring!

In the end its about the same, not much happens..so I don't really have a review for the end.

To sum up, I wouldn't say it was a terrible book, but it takes a lot to get through the ending.. But if you're interested give it a shot... it doesn't take much to get into the book because the beginning is well written and it takes a hold of you and takes you for a ride. I would still recommend this book because it is a good read overall.

Would you say it is anything like The Vampire Diaries or The Secret Circle, both of these are good if you like the TV shows, because I really like both of these series and would be interested in reading her other work?

I absolutely love The Vampire Diaries! It has somewhat similarities, but if you love her other work I would definitely recommend reading this book! Out of 5 stars I give it a 4!

I may read this series! I find myself enjoying cheesy teen vampire romances at night over a glass of red wine. Why? Well I am 28 and sometimes fluff reading at night is awesome! :) I haven't read ANY Smith yet BUT she is up my ally and worth a shot for some midnight easy reading! Thanks!
