Don't Breath A Word By: Holly Cupala

So,

To be honest going into this book I had no clue what it was about. The synopsis on the back wasn't very clear, 'Joy Delamere is suffocating. From asthma, from her parents, and from he boyfriend Asher, who is smothering her from the inside out.' it sounded good and I liked the cover. I thought maybe this would be about finding another boyfriend, making up with her parents, getting an inhaler, something other than becoming homeless! On the back that word was not mentioned once!

However, I was up for a great surprise...this book opened my eyes to something beyond me. In this book you are seeing through the eyes of Joy, a newly made homeless girl. She starts out alone on the streets and then she finds Creed, also homeless. They all stay together, with Creeds friends on the street, and they go through battles emotionally and physically with other homeless kids, sorta like a gang turf war thing.

I was reading this book on a car trip and tried not to cry, I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of other people...but a few tears leaked out. It's so well written and makes you feel like you are right there with the characters experiencing what they are. I didn't want to put this book down, once it was over I just wanted more!

Cupala did an amazing job on this book and I look reading to reading more of her in the near future!
