Damsel Distressed

Post by fashionbythebook »

I'm super new to this site, I hope I'm doing this correctly?

Imogen’s life sucks. Her mom died when she was little, her best friend only sees her as a friend, her dad is never home, she can’t fit in her jeans and to make it all worse, her new stepsister. Carmella, has barely even moved it yet and she already hates her and is ruining her life. Damsel Distressed is about Imogen’s search for happiness and belonging, and I loved every minute.

The Good:
This book was SO good! I really enjoyed it, and the characters were so realistic. When I read that it was a retelling of Cinderella, I was weary of it. I’m so glad I read it! I liked how it was inspired by the story of Cinderella in the lightest way possible. I thought it was going to be like The Stepsister’s Story, actually! Anyways, the whole story was so realistic and well-thought out. My copy didn’t have the art work that is included in the finished copies, but I can imagine that it will look amazing. Imogen’s struggles were so real. And the book’s pacing was perfect, I read it in one sitting!

The Not-so-Good: Don’t have much to say here! Sometimes I did think Imogen overdid comments of her plus-size-yness, since being plus sized I don’t comment or think of it as much as she seemed to, but of course I can’t speak for ever plus sized teenage girl! I also am a fan of Disney Princesses, so it was kinda strange seeing them being put down. We defiantly need a plus sized princess, though!

I definitely recommend Damsel Distressed to any girl, or boy, who felt like life was fighting them all the time, and for fans of Don’t Touch, 13 Reasons Why, and books similar to those!

It sounds like a nice book, but who is the author? You need to add the name of the author as well.
