My review of Fated by Benedict Jacka

Post by Ashley1305 »

In the first of his books, Jacka introduces us to Alex Verus and his underground world of magic in London.

The book is enjoyable and has enough differences between other magic underground worlds to make it not feel like you have been there before.

The characters are likeable and I felt quite rounded, so as I could engage with them and care about their arcs. The interaction between Alex and Luna (the female secondary) is fun and the introduction of Arachne makes for a interesting development.

Jacka refers to Alex's background enough to generate intrigue, but without making it too much of a storyline, and the appearance of people from his past also generates an explanation of his nature and why he acts how he does.

Overall I enjoyed the book enough to go out and purchase the next two in the series.

Regards

Ashley
