"The mortal instruments, city if bones" by Cassandra Clare

Post by CaitlinHall »

The first book of the mortal instruments series, city of bones is the definition of a perfect novel, the characters, the plot, everything is just so intriguing and I absolutely love it. When you read it, it's overwhelming and you feel as if you've been literally taken inside the book.

The characters. Where to begin. 'Clary,' is a normal teenage girl with a best friend named 'Simon'. Simon is, you could say, a geek. He's into anime and comics. Clary and Simon have been best friends for as long as they can remember. Both of them not very popular. Jace, in a way, is arrogant and charming, both gorgeous and to some people maybe irritating. Also 'Alec,' and 'Izzy,' brother and sister who also play a big role in the story. Clary lives with her mum and 'Luke,' a father figure for her, with not knowing her actual father.

The plot is just brilliant. With warlocks, vampires and more! When Clary discovers them her life gets turned upside down, and finding out more about her mother than she knew. All of a sudden everything changes and the adventure gets bigger and bigger as her and Simon step further and further into this new world.

Like all great novels, you do have to get into it, but after a bit when it picks up you then can't put it down. Personally it's one of my favourite books.
